This severe thunderstorm lit up the Oklahoma-Texas border region with strobe-like lightning. It was the last night of my trip and I was on the road back towards Denver for my flight home, but couldn't pass up the chance to chase this. I could sleep when I got home!

I was riding between two severe thunderstorms, trying to stay ahead of the one behind me without running into the one in front. Spotted this ranch road with red dirt and green grass, so I quickly pulled off the main road to get a few fast, handheld shots before the storm caught up with me. There was a lovely composition of the curved road and the two hills in the distance, and this bolt obliged, coming right down in-between. When I clicked my shutter, I knew I'd just caught it.
